CHARLIE HUBERT STONE
(8/27/1931- 2/17/2006)
Charlie Hubert Stone, 74, of Memphis, MO, passed away February 17, 2006, at the Iowa Health Des Moines Lutheran Hospital.
He was born the son of William and Barbara Ellen (Forquer) Stone on August 27, 1931, in Scotland County, MO. He spent his entire life in Scotland County.
Charlie attended school in Bible Grove. He worked on a farm and was always willing to help others with any kind of job. Charlie especially enjoyed fishing and hunting turtles. He was an avid collector of animal figurines, especially of cats, dogs, and horses.
He loved to work in the garden and attending auctions. For many years he helped at the Bible Grove School fundraisers and was a good supporter of the school.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Alta and Irene.
He is survived by his sisters, Hazel Arnold of Kahoka and Rose Kunzler of Clintondale, NY; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Funeral services were held February 20, 2006 at the Gerth Funeral Chapel in Memphis with Pastor Jack Sumption of the Memphis First Christian Church officiating. James Henry, Bobby Arnold, David Jackson, Tom Corwin, David Wiggins and Dr. Larry Wiggins served as pallbearers. Linda Arnold and Rose Garrett were honorary pallbearers. Burial was in the Bible Grove Christian Church Cemetery.
