MERVIN SMITH ďJUNIORĒ WALKER, JR.

Mervin Smith ďJuniorĒ Walker Jr., 78, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away February 9, 2006 at Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville.
The son of Mervin Smith and Bertha (Tweed) Walker, he was born July 31, 1927 in Williamstown, Missouri. On May 31, 1959 in Arbela, Missouri, Junior was united in marriage to Willadean Mohr.
Junior is survived by his wife Willadean Walker of Kirksville, MO; one son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Jennifer Walker of Greentop, MO; two daughters, Teresa Mercer of Kirksville, MO and Evelyn Walker of Greentop, MO and three sisters, Maxine Walker of Lewistown, MO, Nelda Hilpert of Memphis, MO and Delores Decker of Cypress, CA. He is also survived by his five very loved grandchildren, Alicia and Adam Mercer and Noah, Ava and Max Walker along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
His parents, one brother, Glenn Walker and one sister, Alice Lillard preceded Junior in death.
Mervin graduated from Williamstown High School with the Class of 1945. He served our country with the United States Army, receiving a World War II Victory Medal. After being honorably discharged in May of 1947, Junior returned home to the family farm. In 1956, Junior went to work for his brother, Glennís business, (Walker Mobile Home Sales). In 1962, Junior purchased the business and operated it until 1984 when he retired due to ill health.
He enjoyed gardening and loved mowing his yard.
Junior was very devoted to his family and had a great love for his grandchildren.
He was a fifty-year member of the Kirksville Masonic Lodge #366 AF & AM, was a 32nd Degree Mason, and member of Scottish Rites, a member of Kirksville El Kadir Shrine Club and Moila Temple of St. Joseph, Missouri, a member of Kirksville Chapter 184 of O.E.S., and a member of Disabled American Veterans. Junior was also a Charter member of the Missouri Manufacturing Housing Association.
While residing in Williamstown, Missouri, Junior was a member of the Providence Baptist Church and after moving to Kirksville, Missouri, was a member of Hamilton Street Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held February 12, 2006 at Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, with Reverend Charles Jackson officiating. Music selections were provided by Twila Jones, who was accompanied by Dianthe Cable, organist. Military rites were provided by Disabled American Veterans Chapter #48, Veterans of Foreign Wars #2508 and American Legion Post #20. Interment was at the Providence Cemetery in Williamstown, Missouri.
Pallbearers were Steve Hilpert, Todd Johnson, Rodney Snyder, Doug Lillard, Robert Green, John Gorham and Brandon Mack.
