Mary M. Drake, 100, of Keosauqua, IA, formerly of Memphis, MO, passed away February 12, 2006, in the Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua, IA.

She was born June 17, 1905, in Scotland County, MO, the daughter of William and Mary Boozel Clark.

On July 6, 1923, she married Leo K. Drake, Sr. He preceded her in death in 1969.

Surviving relatives include a son, Leo K. Drake, Jr. and his wife, Joan of Memphis, TN; one daughter, Marilyn J. Schlotter of Keosauqua, IA; five grandchildren, Sharon Cox and her husband, Bob of Keosauqua, IA, DeeDee Eggleston and husband, John of Memphis, MO, Jane Harris of Memphis, TN, Kenny Drake and his wife, Tricia of Memphis, TN, and Michael Drake of Memphis, TN; great-grandchildren, Bradley Drake and Christine Drake of Memphis, TN, and Eric Cox of Sioux City, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and two sisters; great-grandsons, Damen Eggleston and Marshall Drake.

Mary attended grade school at a one-room country school and was a graduate of Memphis High School. Maryís greatest hobby was taking care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed hobbies including gardening, sewing, cooking and traveling. Mary and Leo traveled the world to such places as Australia, New Zealand, England, Wales, Switzerland, Holland, Rhodesia, Africa, and Yugoslavia.

One of Maryís life goals was to make it to live to 100 years of age. She celebrated that birthday last June on the banks of the Des Moines River in Keosauqua, IA, with her family and friends, where she received a proclamation from the Missouri House of Representatives.

The family has suggested memorials to the Downing House and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 15, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO, with Rev. Charles Hammack officiating. Pallbearers will be John Aylward, Jim Curry, Sr., Stanley Eggleston, Steve Morris, Duane McDonald, and Dwight DeRosear. Interment will be in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
