LOIS MARIE SMITH
(7/22/1935 – 2/4/2006)

Lois Marie Smith, 70, of Downing, MO, passed away at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, MO, February 4, 2006.

The daughter of Louis William and Cecil Marie (Ayer) Schmitter, she was born on July 22, 1935, in Lancaster, MO.

She attended and graduated from the Downing High School in Downing, MO.

On January 16, 1955, at the home of her parents in Downing, MO, she was united in marriage to Ishmael Eugene Smith and to this union two children were born, Dianna and William.

Survivors include her children, Dianna Marie Nelson of Glenwood, MO and William Eugene Smith and wife, Kathy of Lancaster, MO; three grandchildren, Ella Mae Sadie McCallum and husband, David, Amanda Marie Nelson and Joshua David Smith; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Ashley McCallum and Duncan Hawke McCallum; one brother, Curtis Schmitter and wife, Carolyn of Downing, MO; two sisters, Mrs. Bob (Mary) Overton of Mesa, AZ and Mrs. John (Irene) Anderson of Cummings, IA; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ishmael Eugene Smith on July 16, 2005.

Lois was a member of the Downing Christian Church of Downing, MO.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Downing, MO with David Barton, pastor of the Downing Baptist Church officiating. Music will be provided by organist, Betty Anderson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the memorial services for family and friends. Memorials have been established for the Downing Fire Department and to the family. The body has been cremated and will be interred at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Downing, MO.
