Granger Girls Hurt In Crash East of Memphis
Two Granger girls were injured in a one-car crash on Sunday, December 17th when their mother attempted to avoid a deer crossing the roadway on Highway 136.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 5:48 p.m. five miles east of Memphis. Brenda L. Smith, 43, of Granger was westbound in a 1993 Oldsmobile when she attempted to avoid a deer. The vehicle went off the roadway and overturned before coming to rest on its wheels in a field.
Two passengers in the car, Summer C. Peterson, 7, and Britney C. Smith, 4, sustained minor injuries in the accident and were taken by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital. Smith was not injured in the crash. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and her two daughters were also restrained by protection devices.
