Former SCR-I Graduate Has Work Published
An aspiring author knows that the road to publication is often filled with plenty of bumps. For Jamey W. Blake that proved to be the case. The 41-year-old former truck driver traveled those bumpy roads, literally, before back problems forced him to choose a different career path.
While the transition was difficult, Blake didnít have far to look for help. The author simply turned to his own work, compilations of inspirational poetry.
Now readers can also find that same hope in writing as two of Blakeís books are now available through publication by the Xlibris Corporation, a Strategic Partner of Random House Ventures.
ďI believe that everyone has a gift and I try to encourage hope in others so that they can realize their dreams, as I have mine,Ē Blake told the Edina Sentinel.
Blake split time growing up in Scotland and Knox Counties. He attended school in both districts before graduating from SCR-I in 1983. His mother Charlotte Goodwin calls Edina home. His father, the late Billy Blake was of Memphis.
Jamey started writing during his youth. He attributes his success to the support of his family, his six children, and particularly to his mother who he said encouraged him to write and make every effort to have his books published.
Blakeís first two books A Poetís Hall of Memories: Spiritual Inspiration, and A Poetís Hall of Memories: A Manís Journey were published this year. Jamey reported that his third book has been accepted for publication with compilations of his work that could ultimately add several more titles to his book list in the near future.
With his success on the book circuit, Blake hopes to expand his work to include public appearances, book signings and inspirational presentations for schools, churches, youth groups and community programs. He hopes to deliver messages that will steer individuals away from alcohol, drugs and personal problems to the many bigger and better things life has to offer.
