Chamber Announces Holiday Plans

Sign-up boxes at participating businesses mark the start of the holiday activities of the Memphis Area Chamber of Commerce.

Area residents are already signing up to win a number of prizes to be given away by the local organization as it kicks off the holiday season. The promotion will run through November 24th when winners will be drawn at the MACC Christmas Opening celebration on the Memphis Square. The group will give away more than $300 in gift certificates, good at any MACC member. The top prize will be $100 in Memphis Bucks with awards of $75 and $50 as well as 10 $10 Memphis bucks giveaways

The Scotland County Antique Fair Association has planned a soup supper in conjunction with the Christmas Opening, starting at 4:00 p.m. at the groups building on the west side of the square. MACC members will flip the switch on the community Christmas lights at 5:30 p.m. followed by a visit from Santa as well as additional entertainment and shopping opportunities.

The event will kick off the traditional start of the holiday shopping season. In conjunction with those efforts a number of local businesses are expected to host open houses and extended shopping hours on Sunday, November 26th. The MACC is planning a Christmas cookie decorating workshop for the kids from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. that afternoon at the Rotary building on the east side of the square.
