Germany To Paris, A Dream Come True for Local Travelers

On May 31st Scotland County Spanish Group had the adventure of a lifetime during their trip to Europe.

After a seven-hour layover, they left from Atlanta, GA, to Frankfurt, Germany. After landing, they went to Rothenburg, Germany, toured the charming 800-year-old town, and stayed for the night.

The next morning they awoke early and drove to the famous Neuschwanstein castle, which was the model for Walt Disneys Magic Kingdom Castle. That night, the group drove to Munich where they ate at the Augustiner Brau Mundien beer hall and stayed for the night.

The following day the group had a morning visit of the somber Dachau Concentration Camp, and toured the city of Munich. There, they saw Nymphenburger castle, the Glockenspiel, and the World Cup dome, among other fantastic sites.

In the morning, they bid farewell to the Bavarian Capitol and headed to Innsbruck, Austria, home of Mozart, Swarovski Crystal, and Winter Olympics. After lunch, they headed towards the Italian border, finding Lido Di Venezia, around 7:30 that night. After a nice supper, the group walked the town strip, enjoying gelato, and explored the beach by their hotel.

The next morning, the group loaded onto a small boat and traveled 35 minutes to the island of Venice. They spent all day there, walking over some of the 614 bridges in the sinking city. They saw a glass blowing demonstration and rode in gondolas. During free time, the travelers could shop, visit the Musei Civic; Veneziani and the Basilica, or simply feed the pigeons there. The group then headed back to their hotel for the night and took a quick dip in the Adriatic Sea.

The next day, the group went to Verona, Italy where they saw the Balcony of Juliet from Shakespeares Romeo and Juliet, and a coliseum where concerts are still happening. They then traveled over and through mountains to the Lucerne region in Switzerland. The following morning, the group woke up and got onto a boat that took them to the base of Mt. Pilates. They boarded a trolley that took them up the mountain and spent the morning enjoying the view and hiking around the mountain. After lunch, the group loaded onto a ski lift to go back down Mt. Pilates. Upon landing, the group had free time in Lucerne with shopping and dining.

The following day the group boarded the bus and headed through the Black Forest known for its cuckoo clocks and Brothers Grimm fairy tales. They came to Heidelberg where they enjoyed another historical tour and some free time to browse the area. That evening, the group had a wine tasting and stayed up late, chatting with one another.

On the following day they loaded onto the bus and went to Strasbourg, France for a quick bite to eat before boarding the train for Paris, France. Upon arrival in the capital of France, the group had a photo stop by the Eiffel Tower before getting a guided bus tour of the city. That night they watched the World Cup and prepared for the final days of the trip.

The next morning they awoke and went to Notre Dame Cathedral and Versailles where they toured the castle and gardens. After exploring the Metro System and testing new foods for dinner, the group settled into the hotel for another night in Paris.

The next day was crammed full of activities. The group visited the Louvre, Sacre-Coeur, and went up into the Eiffel Tower. The trips grand finale was a night boat ride on the Seine River. The trip was a definite success and an experience that will not soon be forgotten!
