Community Players Preparing For Broadway Musical Review
It’s that time again. Practice, practice, practice. The Memphis Community Players are working on the Summer Musical.
Hope you noticed, as you drive by the Memphis Theatre, the “Broadway Musical Review” sign in the window?
The players are doing a musical review of some of the music from past productions. We don’t have the time and space to list all of the shows for the past 30 years.
Thirty Years . . . Has it been that long? Yes the Memphis Community Players began in 1975 with the production “The Fantastics”, the next musical, was “Anything Goes”, the first production in the old theatre. Over the next several years the Players have presented some of the leading musicals.
Do you have a favorite show you’ve seen on stage in Memphis?
Perhaps this summer you will get to hear some of the music you’ve enjoyed from the past.
We’ve invited some of the leading voices to return to our stage to do a song they did in years past.
Practice has started, Lori Fulk is music director. Michael Fulk is our pianist, Connie Courtney was rehearsal pianist until Michael returned from college. Sheila Berkowitz is director.
Would you like to help? Paint set, lights, tickets, publicity, etc. What to do you ask? Come to practice Monday through Thursday – 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tell us how you can help make our 30-year musical review a success.
Please mark July 11-15, Tuesday through Saturday, and save one of those nights for the Musical Review at the Memphis Theatre.
