Firemen Douse Blaze At Arbela Wood Products
Embers from a trash fire at an adjoining residence were blamed for a fire at the sawmill in Arbela. The owner of Arbela Wood Products reported a fire in the sawdust pile behind the business at 11:06 a.m. on Friday, January 27th.
The Scotland County Fire Department was dispatched to the site, where the blaze was quickly extinguished. Workers at the sawmill had been able to contain the blaze with a garden hose until the fire department arrived.
A total of 15 volunteer firemen answered the call, taking four fire trucks to the scene. The department was on the scene for approximately 20 minutes.
