Highland Hands Lady Tigers Second Loss Of Season
The Scotland County offense never really got on track Tuesday, December 13 at Highland as the Cougars handed the Lady Tigers their second loss of the season 47-34.
Highland jumped out to a 13-8 advantage in the first period and was able to maintain that cushion for the duration.
The two teams played an even second period. Ashlee Frederick had a pair of buckets as the Lady Tigers kept within five points at 24-19 at the intermission.
Ali Fromm drilled a pair of three pointers and Jamie Fuller hit from behind the arc as well but SCR-I still was unable to cut into the deficit. Angie Bulen had four points in the third period as well, yet Highland led 38-32 with just one quarter left to play.
Scotland County allowed just two baskets in the fourth period. Still the defensive effort was not enough, as the SCR-I offense managed just two points in the game’s final eight minutes allowing Highland to hang on for the 47-34 win.
Marikia Abbey led all scorers with 16 points, including 10 points in the third period to help Highland hang on to the lead. Amber Anders finished with 11 points for the Cougars (3-3). Ali Fromm led Scotland County with 14 points on the night that saw SCR-I get zero points off the bench. Angie Bulen finished with seven points.
