Dad, Son Set New Course Record at Fathers Day Golf Tournament

It only seems fitting that a father and his son now hold the course record at Timber Ridge Golf Course. Mike and Mark Drummond easily outdistanced the competition at the 2005 Annual Fathers Day 2-Man Scramble Golf Tourney held at Timber Ridge Golf Course held on June 18. The duo were seven shots better than the second place team and in the process, established a new record low score for a two-person event, carding a 53 to finish 15 under par in the 18-hole event.

Another father/son team took home second place in the championship flight. Paul and Tim Reuschel carded a 60. Dave Shalley and John Ed Luther finished in third courtesy of a tie breaker. They edged out Jared and Corey Drummond after both teams finished with a 61.

Top prize in the A-Flight went to Dave Shalley and Mark Drummond. They shot a 67 in the afternoon round and won the tie breaker over Roger Grant and Donnie Middleton. Bob Courtright and Tom James shot a 68 to finish third followed by Steve and Gary Dial with a 69.

The B-Flight winners were Bob Courtright and Chris Feeney with a round of 73. They took advantage of a tie breaker to best Mike and Jared Drummond and Michael and Dennis Robertson who also shot 73s. Brian and Shad Mattingly finished fourth with a 74.

Tournament organizers also hosted a number of contests on the course throughout the all-day event.

Tom James had the shot closest to the 100-yard marker on hole #1. Mark Drummond crushed the longest drive on hole #2.

The golfers competed in a 50/50 contest in both the morning and afternoon rounds for the closest shot to the pin on hole #3. Jared Drummond took the cash in the morning with a ball just 56 inches from the hole. Ken McMinn narrowly missed a hole in one in the afternoon, leaving his tee shot just 14 inches from the cup.

On hole #6 Roger Grant had the second shot closest to the pin. Bob Schultz drained the longest putt on hole #7. Ron Logston took home a prize from Community Bank of Memphis on hole #8 with the shot closest to the pin. Paul Reuschel made the longest putt on hole #9 to earn a prize from the Memphis Branch of U.S. Bank.

A total of 38 two-man teams competed in the event.
