Cotton, Kittle, Howard Produce First Place Finishes At Track Meet
The Tigers junior high track teams hosted the Scotland County Relays in Memphis on May 2nd. The Lady Tigers finished third while the boys finished fifth.
The girls racked up 103 points to finish behind Putnam County (129) and Clark County (112).
Melissa Cotton racked up some big points, taking first place in the high jump and second place in the 1,600 meter run.
Betsy Kittle crossed the finish line first in the 75-meter hurdles. She also was fourth in the 100-meter dash.
Deidra Dochterman picked up fifth place points in the discus and was eighth in the 75-meter hurldes.
Kristan Kaldenberg finished third in the shot put while Kaylan Winn was seventh in the discus and Cheyenne Ward was seventh in the triple jump.
Tara Matlock earned fifth place points in the 400-meter dash. Tanya Sayre and Jessica Wiggins were fourth and sixth in the 800-meter run.
The Lady Tigers finished second in the sprint medley and the 4x400 relay while earning third place in the 4x200. The team took top honors in the 4x100 relay.
The boys compiled 47 points to finish behind Clark County (175), Schuyler County (102) Putnam County (95) and Milan (56). The Tigers finished ahead of North Shelby, Canton and Knox County.
Jacob Howard did the bulk of the damage. He took first place in the discus with a throw of 103í7Ē. He also was fourth in the high jump.
Teammate Michael Moore took third place in the discus.
Brandon Garnett finished sixth in the 110-meter hurdles while Kyle Shelley was fourth in the shot put.
The 1,600-meter run earned the team fifth place points as Andrew Duley crossed the finish line in 5:51.68.
Daniel Schneider was fifth in the 800-meter run while Bradley Hamner was sixth in the 200-meter dash.
SCR-I had the seventh place 4x200 meter relay team and finished fourth in the 4x400 meter relay.
