Tigers Track Teams Host Scotland County Relays

The weather wasnít the greatest, but at least the Scotland County track teams didnít have far to go for the April 28th meet as the Tigers hosted the annual Scotland County Relays under cold and damp conditions in Memphis.

The boys team finished fourth among the seven area teams, compiling a total of 90 points. Putnam County topped the scoring with 153 points followed by Schuyler County with 118 and Clark County with 109. The Tigers finished ahead of Knox County (34), North Shelby (30) and Canton (5).

The Lady Tigers faired a little better, finishing third overall with 94 points. Clark County topped the scoreboard with 220 points, more than doubling runner-up Putnam County, which tallied 109 points. Knox County and Schuyler County finished tied with 40 points followed by North Shelby (22) and Canton (0).

The SCR-I boys had a strong showing in the field events. Greg Neagle won the shot put event with a throw of 45í11.5Ē. He finished third in the discus with a toss of 104í8.75Ē.

Tim Robinson won the discus with a throw of 128í. He also took second place in the long jump, clearing 17í3.5Ē.

His teammate B.J. Houghton was just a ľ inch off that measure, earning third place with one of his best jumps of the year. Houghton also garnered fourth place points for the team with a jump of 35í7Ē in the triple jump. The junior didnít stop there. He was third in the 110-meter hurdles in a time of 18 seconds.

Kasey Parrish picked up fourth place in the 1,600-meter run. Lance Norton was sixth in the race. He also was fifth in the 800-meter run.

The Tigers earned sixth place points in the 100-meter dash courtesy of Eric Glass and third place points thanks to Chris Humes in the 200-meter dash.

The Tigers relay teams finished second in the 3,200 meter relay; third in the 400-meter relay; third in the sprint medley; and third in the 1,600-meter relay.

Ali Fromm led the Lady Tigers to third place. She won the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 17.44 seconds. She was second in the 300-meter hurdles and was third in the 200-meter dash.

Leslie Duley finished second in both the 3,200 meter and 1,600-meter runs.

The 800-meter run was another strong event for the Lady Tigers. Kelly Cochenour finished fourth with Kelsey Sears taking fifth.

Kirsten Johnston finished second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 1:06.59.

Other points came from Angie Bulen (sixth in the shot put), Hannah Kiddoo (sixth in the high jump), and Jamie Fuller (fifth in the 100-meter dash).

The Lady Tigers finished fourth in the 800-meter relay; second in the 1,600-meter relay, second in the 3,200-meter relay and third in the sprint medley.
