Scotland County Lanes Host 2005 City Bowling Tournament
The pins were flying over the weekend of April 2-3 at the Scotland County Lanes in Memphis as the bowling alley hosted the annual Memphis City Tournament.
The team tournament was held April 1. Simpson Plumbing and Heating won the event with a total score of 2655. Memphis Auto Parts (2648) finished second followed by The Catfish Place Thursday (2634), Memphis Realty (2588) and Shelly Bís (2569). Pepsi Cola finished seventh (2563) despite turning in the best overall scratch score at 2320. The team also had the lowest handicap in the event.
Other team participants were Party Shack Tuesday (2567), Throw Togethers (2561), Gas & More (2546), Donís Body Shop (2505), Lan-Dow Buildings (2502), Larryís Barber Shop (2485) SC Lanes (2464), Golden Girls (2462), Party Shack Thursday (2413) and The Catfish Place Tuesday (2383).
Forty-eight bowlers took part in the singles tournament held April 2. Jeff Grogan took top honors with a total score of 763, courtesy of the best scratch round of the event (706). He edged out Brandon Elenbaas (747) and Winnie Hill (735). Rounding out the top 10 performances were Terry Byers (1st shift 720), Tuff Woods (1st shift 718), Dave Seppelt (708), Jennifer Talbert (706) Robert Arnold (2nd shift 697) and Pat Parsons (695).

In the doubles event it was Pat and Larry Parsons winning it all with a score of 1413. Brandon Elenbaas and Allen Middelton finished second at 1393 while Chris Kuse and Kami Daggett were third at 1364. Rounding out the top five were the team of Dave Seppelt and Pam Tripp (1356) and the team of OJ Simpson and Bob Courtright (1314).
Total standings were posted combining scores from all three events. Dave Seppelt finished in first place with a combined score of 2179. Elenbaas was second at 2131 with Grogan (2051) taking third. Courtright (2043), Daggett (2038), Simpson (2037), Hill (2032, Pat Parsons (2020), Chris Talbert (2015) and Tami Seppelt (1995) also earned top 10 finishes overall.
