Fromm Named Second Team All-State in Missouri Class 2

For the past several weeks the awards have been rolling in for Scotland Countyís Ali Fromm. But after being named to the first team Tri-Rivers All-Conference and the Northeast Missouri First Team All-District, the Missouri Sportwriters and Sportscasters saved the best for last. The organization announced March 30 that Fromm had been awarded second team all-state honors for Class 2.

The SCR-I standout was named one of the top 20 players in Missouri in division two. As a junior, Fromm led the Tri-State area scoring 20.5 points a night. In 27 games she amassed 554 points as she broke the 1,000-point barrier for her career early in the 2004-05 season. She scored a career-high 44 points versus Palmyra on January 8th.

Fromm was third on the team with a 4.6 rebounding average and also led the team with 55 steals. She shot a team-best 47 percent from the field. She was nearly as proficient from behind the arc where she made 54 of her 122 three-point attempts to shoot 44.3 percent. Fromm was also the team leader with a 76.9 percent from the free throw line.

The #1 team in Class 2, Clopton, placed its top two players on the First Team All State. Mikal Bencomo and Brandi Tipton led the team to a perfect 32-0 mark and a state title.

Rounding out the first team were Michelle Anderson, a junior from North Platte; Janae Bennett, a senior from Crest Ridge; Cody Chinn, a senior from South Shelby, Deidre Dace, a senior from Metro; Bethany Jenkins, a senior from Osceola; Tag Morris, a senior from Blue Eye; Jessica Rolf, a senior from Orrick; and Stephanie Studanski, a senior from Gainesville.

Joining Fromm on the second team were Sara Bos, a junior from Billings; Megan Cornish, a senior from Lockwood; Megan Lotspeich, a senior from Archie; Dana Loveless, a senior from Metro; Morgan Neal, a senior from Barstow; Katy Roark, a senior from Koshkonong; Kara Schilli, a senior from Valle Catholic; Jenna Thompson, a senior from Sedalia Sacred Heart; and Ashley Townsend, a senior from Orrick.

Other area players earning all state honors included:

Girls Class 3 Ė First Team - Courtney Shuman, a sophomore from Clark County; Second Team Ė Amber Anders, a junior from Highland; and Nicole Myers, a senior from Palmyra. Clark County finished ranked #10 in the state with a 23-3 record.

Boys Class 1 Ė First Team Ė Scott Ratcliff, a senior from North Shelby; Cody Stoneburner, a senior from North Shelby. North Shelby finished ranked #1 with a 31-1 record and a state title.
