Lady Tigers End Slump By Slamming Rams
Nine different Lady Tigers scored, and scored often as Scotland County ended a three-game losing streak in style with a 64-43 victory over Schuyler County in Queen City on January 13th.
SCR-I opened an 11-3 advantage in the game’s first four minutes before the Rams rallied. Schuyler County pulled within 13-10 to close out the period.
Scotland County pulled away as Ali Fromm poured in six quick points to start the second quarter. Ashlee Frederick added four points in the run as the Lady Tigers pulled away for a 31-23 halftime advantage.
The third period was all SCR-I. Fromm again took the lead hitting a three pointer and following it up with an old fashioned three-point play to extend the lead to double digits.
A three-point play by Kayla Ebeling expanded the lead to 48-34. After a Valerie Crawford bucket, Frederick converted a three-point play at the buzzer as Scotland County went on top 53-35.
The Scotland County seniors put the game away in the final eight minutes. Leslie Duley drilled a three pointer and had five points in the final period before Jacqui Drummond knocked down the final jumper in the 64-43 victory.
Fromm finished with 27 points to lead all scorers. Frederick added nine points while Crawford and Angie Bulen each pitched in with six points.
Scotland County got back to the .500 mark at 6-6 on the season with Schuyler County dropping to 3-6.
