PAUL DAVID ELSCHLAGER

Paul David Elschlager, 84, Queen City, MO, formerly of Lancaster, MO, passed away at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO, December 17, 2005.
The son of Lloyd Mathis and Ada Bell (Phillips) Elschlager, he was born December 4, 1921 in rural Downing, MO.
He was a graduate of the Downing High School in Downing, MO.
On March 9, 1946 he was united in marriage to Maxine Jane Baker in Overbrook, KS, and to this union three sons were born, Larry, Steve and Stanley.
Paul was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in New Guinea during World War II. During the time spent in the service, Paul was trained to be a jeweler. This training in the military led to a further career in watch repairs. Paul was also employed with the Schuyler R-I School system as a custodian from 1959-1978, where he made many friends not only with the faculty, but also with the student body. Paul was also a used car dealer and a member of the Ford Car Club. Paul was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church.
Paul is survived by his wife, Maxine Elschlager of Queen City, MO; two sons, Steve Elschlager and wife, Susan of Kirksville, MO and Stanley Elschlager and wife, Lori of Kirksville, MO; five grandchildren, Amy Elschlager, Nick Elschlager, Eren Davis and husband, Steve Davis, Rian Elschlager and Lathan Elschlager; and one great-granddaughter, Katelyn Davis.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Larry Elschlager in July, 1965.
Funeral services were held December 20, 2005, at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO with Sonny Smyser, pastor of the Lancaster United Methodist Church officiating. Music was provided by organist, Maureen Watkins. Pallbearers were Nick Elschlager, Steve Davis, Loyd Jackson, Fred Lanham, Jimmy Beeler and Phil Beeler. Honorary pallbearers were Charles Rhoads, Kenny Beeler, James Jackson, Lowell Jackson and Junior Beeler. Memorials have been established for the Campground Cemetery or Arni Memorial Cemetery. Burial was in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, MO.
