VELMA FAY WILSON
(1/30/1958 – 10/7/2005)
Velma Fay Wilson, 47, of Knox City, MO, passed away October 7, 2005, at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, MO.
Velma was born on January 30, 1958, in Colony, MO, the daughter of Marshall “Bud” and Doris Irene Lindsey Boltz.
She was very active in the Knox City and Richland Baptist Church in Hitt, MO, teaching Sunday School for more than 20 years. Velma was also an Associational Clerk and Associational Director of Vacation Bible School and was a member of the LaBelle Chapter #316 Order of Eastern Star. She was very involved with craft charities and loved to sing but most of all she loved her family and especially her grandchildren.
On August 4, 1978, in Knox City, MO, she married Mike Wilson.
Velma is survived by her husband, Rev. Mike Wilson of Knox City, MO; mother, Doris Boltz of Knox City, MO; three daughters, Helen Irene and her husband, Terry Hettinger of Edina, MO; Sara Wilson of the home of Knox City, MO, Kathern Louise and her husband, Nathan Gammons of Sumter, SC; grandchildren, Ashley Gammons and Benjamin Hettinger; four sisters, Linda and her husband, Ronnie House of LaBelle, MO, Betty and her husband, Steve Whiteaker of LaBelle, MO, Judy and her husband, Bill Fountain of Knox City, MO, Alma and her husband, Rev. Doug Wilson of Quincy, IL; a brother, Dennis Lee Boltz of Knox City, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marshall “Bud” Boltz and a brother, Donnie Boltz.
Eastern Star services were held October 10, 2005, conducted by the LaBelle Chapter #316 Order of Eastern Star.
Funeral services were held October 11, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Casket bearers were Dennis Ennis, Rick Davis, Leon Shaw, Keith Spory, Mark Denny, James A. Wilson, Sandy Browning, and Harold Hettinger. Burial was in the Colony Cemetery in Colony, MO. A memorial in memory of Velma Wilson may be made to the family’s wishes, grandchildren’s education fund or the Richland Baptist Church. A memorial may be left at or mailed to the Doss Funeral Home, 208 N. 4th Street, Edina, MO 63537.
