Donald Ray Parrish, age 71 of Baring, Missouri, passed away July 14, 2005 at his home in Baring, Missouri.

The son of Joseph Clark and Ada Myrtle (Keisow) Parrish, he was born September 30, 1933 in Knox County, Missouri.

On May 25, 1961, at Memphis, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Helen Louise Goodwin.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Baring, Missouri; seven children, Stevie R. Parrish of Kirksville, Missouri, Ronald R. Parrish of Kirksville, Missouri and Larry E. Parrish and wife Cindy of Gorin, Missouri, Phyllis A. Mallett and husband, Kent of Memphis, Missouri, Brenda K. McVicker and husband, Rick of Bevier, Missouri, Donna S. Walsh and friend, Rick of Edina, Missouri, Jennifer L. Alexander, and husband, Troy of Memphis, Missouri and son-in-law, Pat Walsh; two brothers, Howard D. Parrish and wife, Helen of Memphis, Missouri and Joe Wayne Parrish of Baring, Missouri; five sisters, Shirley Rickard and husband, Derrell of Kirksville, Missouri, Mary Alice Funk and husband, Glen of Hurdland, Missouri, Dorothy Parrish and friend, Marty of Edina, Missouri, Carolyn Parrish of Edina, Missouri and Marilyn Fisher and husband, John of Greenfield, Michigan; sixteen grandchildren, Darin Parrish and wife, Amanda, Kisha Hudson and husband, Andy, Deanna Shultz and friend, Ben, Chris and Leslie Mallett, Chance Dennis, Briana, Joey, Katie and Brenden Walsh, Keely Johnson, Tanner and Jansen Alexander, Barbara Hayes and husband, Michael, Colissa Parrish and Courtney Parrish; step-grandchildren, Wendy Erickson and husband, Justin, Aaron, Devin, and Chelsey McVicker and Jeremy and Meg Davis and Tim Davis; great-grandchildren, Kellen Parrish, Kelsey and Lance Hudson; step-great-grandchildren, Gage and Leigh Erickson, Chezney McVicker and Tyler and Kaitlyn Davis, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph C. Parrish on January 1, 1955, mother, Ada Myrtle Parrish on August 16, 1991 and one sister, Barbara Clatt on November 13, 1983.

Donald was reared in the Gorin community where he received his education. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 thru 1956. Following his discharge he moved to Baring, Missouri where he was employed for the Eyler Brothers, Dromey Trucking, Doss Brothers, and Hustead Trucking for fifteen years as a driver and mechanic and also worked on the KTVO tower until his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donald was always ready to help out when he could for his family and friends

Funeral Services were held July 18, 2005 at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home at Edina, Missouri, with Reverend David Howald officiating and Rick McVicker assisting.

Burial was in the Park View Memorial Gardens at Kirksville, Missouri, with Military Graveside Honors conducted by the Cyril A. Graham American Legion Post #261 of Edina and the Knox County V.F.W. Memorial Post #4822. Casket Bearers were Richard Clark, Hadley Bowen, Paul Walker, Hardin Harrington, Dwain Perrigo and Bob Ward. Honorary Bearers were Ronnie Douglas, Pete Mayfield, George Hunolt, Lee Perry, J.T. Doss and John Dennis Mauck.

An expression of sympathy may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Memorials may be left at or mailed to the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
