MARY M. “PATT” McGILL
(8/1/1937 – 6/16/2005)
Mary M. “Patt” McGill, 67, of Peoria, IL, passed away June 16, 2005, at the Manor Care in Peoria, IL.
She was born August 1, 1937, the daughter of Leslie and Freda L. Gibbs Hollis in Bible Grove, MO.
Patt was married to John Inman McGill, July 4, 1959, in Eureka, IL. He survives.
She first worked at Steak and Shake in East Peoria, IL, where she met her husband, John. Later she worked for Arby’s in Peoria, IL, then she owned and operated Bride’s Rental on Glen Avenue in Peoria, until she retired in 1995.
Patt was the former president of the Women’s Auxiliary for UAW Local 974 in Peoria, IL; a member of the Caterpillar Retiree’s Club, and a member of the Caterpillar Racing Club and an avid fan of NASCAR and country music.
Survivors include four sons, James McGill of Springfield, IL, Danny (and Robin) McGill of East Peoria, IL, Timothy McGill of Peoria, IL, Gary (and Cindy Biel) McGill of Fairview Heights, IL; four sisters, Larraine Aldridge of Memphis, MO, Loretta (and Eddie) Leible of St. Peters, MO, Betty (and Henry) Slobe of Grays Lake, IL, Martha Bradley of Bible Grove, MO; one brother, William (and Jane) Hollis of Sunnyland, IL; seven grandchildren, Heather (and Sean) David, Noel (and Randy) Fanti, Adrian Elliot, Alexandria McGill, Danny McGill Jr., Rachel McGill and Johnathan McGill; and six great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, and one brother, Wayne Hollis of Vienna, MO, who preceded her death by hours.\
Services were held June 20, 2005, at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel in Peoria, IL. Burial was in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bible Grove Historical Fund.
