LESLIE WAYNE HOLLIS
(7/14/1929 – 6/15/2005)
Leslie Wayne Hollis of Vienna, MO, was born on July 14, 1929, in Bible Grove, MO, a son of Leslie James and Freda LaVaughn (Gibbs) Hollis, and departed this life June 15, 2005, at Capital Region Medical Center, Jefferson City, MO. Mr. Hollis had attained the age of 75 years, 11 months, and one day.
Mr. Hollis was preceded in death by his father on October 21, 1989; his mother on January 17, 1987; and one sister, Mary McGill on June 16, 2005.
Mr. Hollis was baptized on June 17, 1996, and was a member of the First Christian Church, Belle, MO.
He was a United States Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a life member of the VFW Post No. 4958, Memphis, MO, and a member of Teamster Local 710 Chicago, IL for 32 years, retiring in September 1987.
He moved to Downing, MO and lived there for seven years, then moved to Vienna, MO in 1994.
Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. Hollis include: one brother, William G. Hollis, and wife, Jane of Washington, IL; four sisters, Lorraine Aldridge of Memphis, MO, Loretta Leible and husband, Eddie of St. Peters, MO, Betty Slobe and husband, Henry of Wildwood, IL and Martha Bradley of Baring, MO; nephews, nieces, and other relatives and friends.
Fond and precious memories of Mr. Hollis will long be remembered by his family and all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were held for Mr. Hollis, June 18, 2005, in the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, with Rev. Karen Alden, pastor, Vienna United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in the Vienna Cemetery, under the direction of the Vienna Chapel of the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes. Pallbearers were Ronnie Thompson, Danny Bargielski, Doug Bradley, Dennis Bradley, Bobby Bradley, and David Bradley. Honorary pallbearers were his nephews, nieces, and cousins. Military Honors were provided by the American Legion Post No. 298, Dixon, MO.
