ALLENA MAUDE HOPPER

Allena Maude Hopper, 96, of Downing, MO, passed away at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO, June 10, 2005.
The daughter of Stephen Garfield and Bessie Evinda (Corwin) McCune, she was born on September 19, 1908, in rural Downing, MO, in Scotland County.
On December 23, 1929, she was united in marriage to Nelson Marrian Hopper.
Survivors include her brother, Charlie A. McCune and wife, Marjorie of Kirksville, MO; one brother-in-law, Morris (Mike) Walker of Memphis, MO; one sister-in-law, Martina Watkins of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, nephews and cousins.
Allena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nelson on December 4, 1964; two sisters, Irene Campbell and Emogene Walker and one brother, Corwin Emmett McCune in infancy.
Allena attended the Downing Christian Church very faithfully as long as her health permitted. She was also a member of the Kirksville Order of the Eastern Star.
Allena and her husband, Nelson owned and operated a restaurant in Glenwood, MO for a number of years.
Funeral services were held June 13, 2005, at the Downing Christian Church in Downing, MO, with Larry Smith, pastor of the Downing Christian Church officiating. Musical selections were provided by pianist, Barbara Blessing. Pallbearers were I.G. Ruth, Jim Brewer, Vaughn Ruth, Henry Blessing, Junior Blessing, and Rodney Newland. Memorials have been established for the Downing Christian Church or Scotland County Care Center. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery in Glenwood, MO. Arrangements were under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home in Downing, MO.
