Max E. McBee, 79, of Kirksville, MO, passed away January 29, 2005, in Kirksville Manor Care Center, Kirksville, MO.
The son of Thomas Aaron and Dora Ella (Newman) McBee, he was born February 27, 1925 at his parents rural farm home near Moulton, IA.
He is survived by a sister-in-law, Avis McBee of Memphis, MO; a brother-in-law, Woodrow Starbuck of Queen City, MO; and 13 nieces and nephews, Harry McBee, John McBee, Patricia McBee, Bill McBee, Matt McBee, Cindy Whitlock, Cathy McBee, Nancy McClamroch, Christy Holton, Robert Starbuck, James Starbuck, Marilyn May, and JoAnna Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Willis Rex McBee and J.T. McBee; and one sister, Freda Starbuck.
Max served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and rejoined the Navy during the Korean War. For the past 25 years he had made his home with his friends at Kirksville Manor Care.
At his request the body has been cremated. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 11, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in the Fugate Cemetery with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Paige McClamroch will sing a patriotic song in honor of her great-uncle’s service in two wars. Military Rites by the Queen City American Legion Post #784 will also be held at the graveside.
Max’s friends are invited by his family to join them for lunch in the Schuyler R-1 multi-purpose room immediately following the services. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, MO.
