CHARLES KENT DUNN

Charles Kent Dunn, 63, of Memphis, MO, passed away March 28, 2005, at his home following a short illness.
Kent was born February 4, 1942, in Adair County, MO, the son of Jerry Croley and Leantha Pearl Mallett Dunn.
On March 3, 1963, he married Deanna Lee Harvey in Memphis, MO.
Kent graduated from Memphis High School in 1960 and attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State) in Kirksville, MO. Before starting work for GTE in 1971, he had worked at Gerth and Baskett, for Ralph Dodge and Jack Dannenhauer (carpenters), and Whiston Construction Co. of Kahoka, MO. He worked as a lineman, and lead lineman for GTE for 25 years. Since 1996 he has been cable maintenance man for Northeast MO Rural Telephone Co. He enjoyed his job, the customers, and the employees of NEMO Rural. He observed the many changes in telecom-munications during those 34 years. He had retired March 3, 2005, due to illness.
Kent enjoyed hunting and fishing. He hunted and collected rocks and Indian artifacts. He enjoyed photography, good blues music, history, and sports. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Deanna; one daughter, Stacie Juhl and husband, Tom of Bloomfield, IA; one son, Kristian Dunn and wife, Angela of Birmingham, AL; one step-brother, Jack Dannenhauer and wife, Darlene of Bible Grove, MO; five grandchildren, Jason and Derek Juhl, Katy Johnson, Drew and Brady Dunn; brothers-in-law, Bill Harvey of Milwaukee, WI, Dennis Bryant of Columbus, OH; sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Harper of Memphis, MO, and Judy Gardner of Columbus, OH; mother-in-law, Ruth Bryant of Memphis, MO. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. His friends will always have a smile when they think of him.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, step-father, Harry Dannenhauer, and father-in-law, Paul Bryant.
The family has suggested memorials to the Scotland County Memorial Hospital Therapy Department, and Scotland County Cancer Fund and may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.
Memorial services were held April 2, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO with Rev. Charles Hammack officiating. Special memories were shared by the following, Kris Dunn, Stacie Juhl, Jason Juhl, Dana Hauk, Chipper Harris, and Mike Gelbach, along with a letter from Marilyn Cowell.
