Miss Northeast Missouri To Be Crowned Saturday Night

Six young women will compete for the title of Miss Northeast Missouri at the 17th annual pageant on Saturday, November 19.

Formerly known as the Miss Clark County Scholarship Pageant, the local pageant is open to residents of Clark and Scotland counties. This yearís pageant will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Clark County R-1 Middle School.

Co-directors Michelle Hess and Chrissy Plenge have planned an exciting evening of entertainment with some new twists to the traditional competition.

Reigning Miss Northeast Missouri Jessica Erwin will be a featured performer and will join the contestants in the opening production of ďDiamonds Are a Girlís Best FriendĒ. In addition, a special production featuring local school children is also planned. A group of students from the Raeann School of Dance will perform to ďAll That JazzĒ and the Scotland County R-1 Little Paws drill team will also perform.

The theme for the pageant is ďMidnight in ParisĒ and the contestants have been divided into the Pearl Group and the Diamond Group for the competition. Rather than all contestants competing at the same time in the same category, each group will have a different schedule. For example, the Diamond Group may compete in the Swimsuit competition, followed by the Pearl Group in the Talent competition. This change will make the evening more exciting for the audience and will also help the contestants as they make costume changes and prepare for their next competition.

The contestants will meet with the judges panel during the afternoon for the interview portion of the competition. This gives the judges the opportunity to meet the young women and learn more about them and their chosen platform issue. During the evening, they will participate in Swimsuit, Talent, Casual Wear and Evening Wear competitions and will discuss their platform during the Onstage Interview.

During the Evening Wear portion of the competition, the contestants will be escorted by Little Miss Northeast Missouri Kylee Selway, Young Miss Northeast Missouri Alexis Dodge, and Pre-Teen Miss Northeast Missouri Miranda Golbricht.

This yearís contestants are Bryana Redding, daughter of Sam and Teri Redding; Tessa Chenoweth, daughter of Diane Chenoweth and Dan Chenoweth; Tosha Dean, daughter of Corey and Sonja Dean; April Bunker, daughter of Daryl Bunker and Adrianna Klinert; Olivia Brunk, daughter of Ellen Brunk and Jeff Brunk; and Katharine Moon, daughter of John and Susan Moon.

Each contestant in the pageant will receive a cash scholarship to assist them with their college education. These scholarships are made possible through donations from local businesses and individuals. During the last 16 years, approximately $55,000 in cash scholarships have been awarded to local young women, making this pageant one of the most strongly supported in the state.

Reserved seat tickets and general admission tickets are still available at American Family Insurance. General admission tickets will also be available for an increased price at the door.
