Bible Grove To Host 5th Annual Rodeo

Rodeo time is again close at hand for the little town of Bible Grove. Coming up, September 23 and 24 will be the Fifth Annual Bible Grove Rodeo, sponsored by the Bar-B Saddle Club of Bible Grove and the D Bar D Rodeo Company from Elsberry.

For the past five years the Bar-B Saddle Club has been holding a rodeo for its fans. The club gears up all year, holding events and securing sponsors for this two-day event. The rodeo has been a great success due to the hard work and efforts of this small community and the donations of the local sponsors who have contributed generously.

“It has been a day and night work schedule for many of the club members,” said saddle club secretary Amanda Davis.

The rodeo is a sanctioned event listing a three-way sanction between the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association (MRCA), the United Rodeo Association (URA) and the IRA.

The rodeo events featured are saddle bronc, bareback bronc, team roping, barrel racing, calf roping, steer wrestling, and of course, bull riding.

Cowboys from several states make their way to Bible Grove to compete for the prize money and sanctioned points. We also have several local riders who compete.

“So it should be a great show, whether you want to cheer on your local favorite or watch the pro’s,” said Davis. “Come out and take in the show.”

The Rodeo contractor for this year will again be D Bar D Rodeo Company of Elsberry, Missouri. D Bar D is a family-run business owned and managed by Bob and Linda Daniels along with their family. The Daniels family has put on area rodeos in Troy, LaBelle and, Kampsville, IL; and bull buck outs in Macon and in Kirksville just to name a few. They also have 7 bulls listed with the Pro Bull Riders Association.

This year the rodeo has a few new things along with the old favorites. There will be Mutton Bustin’ starting at 6:00 p.m. both nights. A parade will be held on Saturday for the first time. There will also be several vendors set up on the grounds. The kitchen will be open serving food and drinks including BBQ pork. A beer garden will be on the grounds and rodeo T-shirts will be available to the crowd.

Saturday night the Saddle Club will give away a 16” roping saddle to the holder of the winning raffle ticket. There will also be entertainment both nights after the rodeo performance.

Advance tickets are available for $8.00 (adults), $5.00 (children over 5). Tickets at the gate will be $9.00 (adults) $6.00 (children over 5 ). Contact any member of the saddle club to buy tickets. They are also available at the Print Shop in Memphis.

“Mark your calendars for September 23rd and 24th and come out to the Grove and enjoy a night of the original extreme sport – rodeo,” said Davis.
