Guardsmen Set To Return After Deployment

Army National Guard Sgt. Travis J. Mathews and Army National Guard Spec. Vernon R. Egenberger are members of the Missouri National Guard who have been demobilized and returned to their home unit after being activated to serve at Fort Polk, Leesville, LA.
The soldiers are members of the Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 128th Field Artillery based in St. Louis. Field artillery guard members were retrained and reclassified to be military police specialists assigned as members of the Provisional 128th Military Police Company at Fort Polk. Alpha Company soldiers replenished and augmented the Fort Polk military police force deployed to Iraq, Afghanistan and other military theaters of operation.
The field artillery soldiers were trained to conduct standard military police duties such as how to perform patrols, route reconnaissance, traffic control points, crowd control, detain unauthorized persons, and work with local law enforcement officials.
Mathews who has six years of military service, is the son of Janet K. Hamilton of Memphis. His wife, Michell, is the daughter of Jerry and Janice Grosenkemper of Memphis. He is a 2000 graduate of Scotland County R-I High School.
Egenberger who has four years of military service, is the son of Brenda L. Tinkle of Madrid. His wife, Amber, is the daughter of William S. and Shirley J. Green of Memphis. He is a 2001 graduate of SCR-I High School.
