A Rutledge teenager received moderate injuries in an ATV accident Monday morning near Rutledge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Travis L. Bruns, 15, was eastbound on a dirt road on a 1985 Yamaha ATV. Bruns reportedly attempted to cross an intersection of an unmarked gravel road and struck an oncoming pickup truck in the driver’s side. The ATV overturned coming to rest on top of Bruns.
Bruns was taken by Scotland County Ambulance to Scotland County Memorial Hospital.
The pickup truck was driven by Michael J. Gelbach, 52, of Memphis. He was uninjured in the accident.
The accident occurred at 10:52 a.m. approximately three miles north of Rutledge near Route M.
The Patrol was assisted at the scene by the ambulance service and the Scotland County Sheriff’s Department.
The crash marked the third serious ATV accident in the area in just over one month. A Memphis teen was seriously injured in an ATV crash May 18th in Schuyler County. The following week a Gorin man was seriously hurt in a four-wheeler crash in Knox County.
