Demolition Derby To Be an Equal Opportunity Crasher
Powder puff and demolition derby are not two words one often hears used in the same sentence, but the two opposites will be combined at the 2005 Scotland County Fair. The annual demolition derby is one of the main draws for the annual event, and this year organizers have added a new twist in an effort to expand the entertainment for the loyal fans.
Following the completion of all the regular heat races, a special powder puff race will be held for all female drivers interested in participating. The event will follow all standard rules for the event but will pay back the winner 100 percent of the total entry fees ($25 for each car and driver).
Powder puff drivers may enter their own car or they may pilot a car that has already been ran in the previous heat races.
For more information contact Bryan Whitney (883-5726) or Stacy Westhoff (945-3069) of the Scotland County Fire Department, the event’s organizer.
The organizers indicated that a copy of the 2004 rules was inadvertently published in this year’s fairbook. For a current set of rules contact Whitney or Westhoff or the Memphis Democrat office.
