Cancer Fund Tripling Benefits For Victims
Growing public support and a number of successful fund raisers is allowing the Scotland County Cancer Fund to expand. The group announced at its May 19 meeting that the benefits will be tripled to $150 for cancer victims in the community.
“We feel that this can be done because of the overwhelming support of the community at our fundraisers, memorial donations along with organizations and businesses donations to the Cancer Fund,” said chairperson Margaret Curry. “We’re very pleased that in the short six months that we have been formed we’ve been able to help at least five people. It’s a great success.”
Curry stated the five cancer victims that had been approved for the fund back when the awards were $50 have already been sent the additional $100 in aid.
