Fromm Named To All-Tourney Team at Hoop-N-Surf Classic
Two former SCR-I standouts took part in the collegiate basketball tournament held in Honolulu, Hawaii just before Christmas.
Former Scotland County standout Meagan Fromm was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Hoop-N-Surf Basketball Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The sophomore from Memphis, paced the Central Missouri State University Jennies in scoring in both games they played in the event.
Fromm hit five three-point field goals on the way to a team-high 23 points in the Jennies 84-50 win over Arkansas Tech on Sunday, December 19. She connected on five of nine attempts from behind the arc and made nine of 16 shots overall as she came off the bench and played 22 minutes in the win.
The next night she scored 15 points in the Jennies 90-65 victory on Monday over St. Thomas (N.Y.) Aquinas.
CMSU had four players score in double figures for a second straight game as well with Tiffany Vincent and Lindsey Maple scoring 13 each while Anna Rorvig added 12. The Jennies end their non-conference schedule with a 9-1 record, the best start since the 1995-96 season, and will get set to tip-off the 2005 MIAA season on Thursday evening, December 30th, hosting Pittsburg (Kan.) State at 5:30 p.m.
Through the first 10 games of the season Fromm is the team’s third leading scorer, averaging 11.3 points a contest in just over 20 minutes per game. She’s the team’s leading threat from the perimeter, hitting a team high 22 three pointers while shooting 40 percent from behind the arc.
Amazingly, Fromm was not the only former Memphis player in Honolulu. Chase Moore, a sophomore at Graceland University, also participated in the event.
Moore is rounding back into playing shape after missing much of the early season with a broken foot.
He scored six points in limited action in his first game of the year, a 79-48 loss to Hawaii Pacific University. The Yellowjackets lost a thriller, 88-82 in overtime to Chaminade University in the tourney opener.
