SCR-I Rallies For Conference Win vs. North Shelby
Trailing 1-0 late in the game against conference rival North Shelby on September 28, it appeared the Scotland County softball team would fall even further down the league standings.
But the Lady Tigers rallied for four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to snatch a 4-1 victory away from the Raiders.
All the SCR-I runs came with two outs. Jessica Bair opened the inning with a single. Kaela Cook followed with a hit. But North Shelby settled down to get the next two batters.
Rebecca Consbrock reached on an error to drive in Bair and tie the game. That opened the flood gates as Ali Fromm knocked in a run with a base hit. Jamie Fuller made it 4-1 with a 2 RBI hit.
Consbrock nailed down the win with a solid finish on the mound. She struck out eight and allowed just two hits. North Shelby threatened late but the SCR-I defense cut down a pair of Raiders base runners. Leftfielder Ashley Ellison threw out a runner at second base and thirdbaseman Jacqui Drummond cut down a runner at the plate.
Fuller went 2-3 at the plate to pace the offense. Cook, Fromm and Bair also added base knocks.
