Show-Me Speedway Sets New Attendance Record
The go-karts just keeping coming as Show-Me Speedway in Downing set a new attendance record for the July 10 races with 51 entries.
The fans were treated to a fireworks display by JPP as well as a candy dash for the kids sponsored by Dave & Ann Potterfield of Monroe City.
There was plenty of racing action as well. The Junior II division proved to be one of the more exciting contests. Tyler Hagar (#32) passed Wes Golden (#3) on the final lap to take the checkered flag. Jared Fox was third in the #28 kart.
Elliot O’Neal was the winner in the rookie division besting Alex Macomber and Kyle Miller. The stock division was won by Ashley Hutchinson. Kirk Hopkins had to settle for second followed by Ron Tennyson.
The 6K kart of Mitch Kriegshauser made its way to victory lane in the Junior I class feature. John Chumbly was second in the #20 kart followed by Tyler Griesbaum in third in the #99 ride.
The Kriegshauser team won again when Dylan crossed the finish line first in the #20 to win the Junior I Heavy class. He held off #44 Andy Garrett and #18 Clay Darr.
Mike Thelen was the winner in the Over 40 division. Rhea Golden finished second followed by Curtis Cavender.
Golden was a little luckier after the race as her number was drawn in the 50/50 contest. In a classy act, Rhea donated her $71 winnings back to the race track.
The karts will be back in action at Show-Me Speedway in Downing on Saturday, July 24.
