Shalleys, Drummonds Dominate Fatherís Day Golf Tourney

Timber Ridge Golf Course hosted the clubís annual Fatherís Day Golf Tournament Sunday, June 20 and fittingly at least a couple of father/son teamís took home prizes.

The team of Tom James and Kaden James won the A-flight with a score of 68. The James team won a tie-breaker between four teams tied at even-par for the day. Second place went to Roger Grant and Charlie Boyer while Kelly Cooley and John March finished third.

The father/son tandem of Mike Drummond and Mark Drummond took third place in the championship flight with a score of 61. Mark played in the afternoon round with Dave Shalley and the duo combined for the best round of the day, a 12-under par 56. Dave and Doug Shalley shot a 57 in the morning session to earn second prize.

There was a three-way tie for first place in the B-flight with a score of 72. The team of Acklie and Brunk won the tie-breaker to earn top prize. Steve Simpson and Jodie Jones were second with Steve Dial and Jason Porter earning third.

The tournament also featured a number of skills competitions with prizes on each hole. Corvin Drummond had the shot closest to the 100-yard marker on hole number one. Mark Drummond had the longest drive in the fairway on number two, crushing his tee shot more than 300-yards.

Hole three featured a 50/50 contest for the tee shot closest to the pin. Doug Shalley was the winner in the morning session while Steve Simpson took home the cash in the afternoon.

Bob Newman was closest to the 100-yard stake on hole number four. Holes five and six each had prizes for the second shot closest to the pin. Mike Drummond had the best shot on five while Chris Feeney took the honors on number six.

Kaden James sank the longest putt of the day on hole number seven.

Jake Brewer received a gift certificate at the Pro Shop courtesy of Community Bank of Memphis for being closest to the pin on number eight. Doug Shalley drained a putt of 54-feet two inches on hole number nine to win a gift certificate at the Pro Shop thanks to Bank of Kirksville.

A total of 34 teams competed in the 18-hole two-man scramble tournament with 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. tee times.
