Tigers Defend Home Track With Victory

The Scotland County boys track team defended its home territory by taking first place in the Scotland County Relays held in Memphis April 29.

The Tigers prevailed on a damp, dreary day that saw SCR-I win four individual events on its way to besting five conference rivals.

Scotland County won the event with a total score of 163. Schuyler County finished second with 158 points. Putnam County earned third place with 147 points followed by Clark County (90), North Shelby (31), Canton (16) and Knox County (14).

The Tigers dominated the field events winning the long jump, the discus, the high jump and the shot put.

Tim Robinson threw the discus 1177 to win the event. Teammate Andrew Bulen was third with a throw of 11510.5. Cody Holt cleared 510 to win the high jump. Carl Wittstock was second in the contest.

The long jump went to Jason Findling. The SCR-I jumper cleared 192 to win. Robinson took home second in the event with a jump of 171.

Greg Neagle was the victor in the shot put. He cleared 423.5. Clint Cottrell was fourth in the event with a throw of 3611.

Cottrell finished in second place in the 800-meter run in a time of 2:09.

Findling was part of two second place relay squads. He teams up with Travis Onken, Kiel Fogle and Chris Holt to finish as runners-up in the 4x200 relay. Findling, Bryce Blomme, Robinson and Cottrell earned second place in the 4x400 relay.

Third place finishes went to Chris Holt in the 200-meter run, Casey Parrish in the 1,600-meter run and Jon Keller in the 110-meter hurdles.

The Tigers 4x100 and 4x800 teams each finished in third place. The 4x800 team consisted of Parrish, Chris Humes, Lance Norton and Cody Holt. The 4x100 team members were Findling, Robinson, Onken and Chris Holt.

Keller finished in fourth place in the 300-meter hurdles. B.J. Houghton was fourth in the triple jump and Norton finished fourth in the 3,200 meter run.
