Tigers Tackle States Best At Kirksville Golf Tournament
The Scotland County golf team got a taste of the big time on April 24 as the Tigers took part in the Kirksville Invitational against some of the biggest schools in the state.
SCR-I held its own against the competitors from class 3 and class 4 schools like Hannibal, Jefferson City and Wentzville.
Chad Peevler of Keokuk, IA, was the individual medalist for the event recording a stellar score of 72 in the 18-hole tourney. Josh Pope of Rock Bridge had the second best round, scoring a 79.
Corvin Drummond paced the Tigers with a round of 85, finishing just off the pace for a top 10 score. Kyle Lister carded a score of 94 and Zach McBee finished his round with a 95. Marcus Shalley and Nick Oldham each finished the event with a score of 96. The Tigers concluded the afternoon with a team score of 370.
Rock Bridge and Hannibal tied for the tournament title with team scores of 330. Trenton was third with a 341 followed by Kirksville and Helias tied for fourth at 353.
SCR-I finished ahead of teams from Moberly, Jefferson City, Macon, Wentzville, Kirksville and Schuyler County and was just strokes off the pace set by team’s from Mexico, Marshall and Keokuk, IA.
