Lady Tigers Take Third Place At Redette Relays
Just two days after the journey north for the first time in the 2004 season, the Scotland County girls track team headed back across the border April 8 for the Redette Relays in Centerville, IA.
The Lady Tigers brought home third place in the 10-team event.
ďOur biggest issue right now is how well we can fill all the events,Ē said Coach Josh Smith. ďWe arenít filling events and because of it we are coming close to winning meets, but canít quite get it done.Ē
Leslie Duley ran away with the distance events earning a first place finish in both the 1,500-meter run and the 3,000-meter run.
Jamie Fuller added two top finishes of her own, winning both the 100- and 400-meter low hurdles.
ďFuller and Duley again ran dominant races beginning to end,Ē said Smith.
Ali Fromm crossed the finish line in 28.97 seconds to take second in the 200-meter dash. Whitney Neighbors was sixth in the event.
The Lady Tigers 4x100 team continued to improve, earning a second-place finish. The runners were Jessie Cotton, Katie Schneider, Sara Eggleston and Ciera Turner
ďOur 4x100 team again looked really good,Ē Smith said. ďTheir handoffs were absolutely perfect. In stride and no muffs on the passes.Ē
The distance medley squad of Eggleston, Schneider, Turner and Duley finished third.
Other top finishers for SCR-I were Angie Bulen in the shot put (4th) and discus (6th); Cotton in the long jump (4th); the 4x400 team of Cotton, Fuller, Turner and Fromm (5th); and the sprint medley team of Eggleston, Schneider, Cotton and Fromm (5th).
