Fuller Helps SCR-I Hurdle The Competition
Run, jump and throw – that’s what the Scotland County varsity girls track team did, and did well, at the Davis County A Club Relays April 6th in Bloomfield, IA.
Jamie Fuller had a strong afternoon, winning both the 100- and 400-meter low hurdle races.
“She did a great job in both events,” said Coach Josh Smith. “Her wins were both very convincing.
The team’s other top performance was turned in by Angie Bulen in the shot put. The junior cleared 28’ 9 ½” to win the event.
Bulen also picked up a fourth place finish in the discus.
Fuller was a contributor on the 4x100 team that brought home second place.
“Our 4x100 team ran the fastest time I can remember since I’ve been here,” Smith said.
The team got a boost for a new addition this season, Leslie Duley. The junior came out for track this season and is already leaving her mark on the distance events. Duley finished third in the 1,500 meter run and third in the 3,000 meter run.
“Duley ran a great race in the 3,000 and the 1,500,” Smith said. There were just two other girls that were very good runners.”
The Lady Tigers Sprint Medley team was a second place winner. The team consisted of Sara Eggleston, Katie Schneider, Jessie Cotton and Ciera Turner.
“Turner really turned it on in the Sprint Medley and caught a few people for us down the stretch.”
Cotton finished third in the long jump with a leap of 13’ 5 ¾”. Eggleston finished sixth in the event. Turner was sixth in the 400 meter dash.
