JV Girls Beat Canton 49-21
The Scotland County junior varsity girls played their best game of the year January 17 to improve to 3-2 on the season with a 49-21 victory over Canton.
“Our girls showed a lot of poise in how they handled their zone,” said Coach Josh Smith. “Patience was key and it really paid off. It seems like every game we step on the court we get better and better.”
SCR-I went on an 11-4 run to open the contest and expanded the margin to lead 25-11 at halftime. The Lady Tigers put the game away with a 16-5 run in the third period.
Jacqui Drummond led the way with 16 points and also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. Leslie Duley poured in nine points and Kayla Ebeling added six. Trisha Harvey and Jamie Fuller did a good job distributing the ball, combining for eight assists while also netting 13 points from the point guard position.
“The entire team showed a lot of patience, moved the ball and worked the offense to get the best possible shot. We committed just eight turnovers in the game, which is a season low. We’ve been averaging twice that many.”
