WARREN GRUBB (5/24/1918 – 10/30/2004)

Warren Grubb, 86, of Memphis, MO, passed away October 30, 2004, at Boone Medical Center in Columbia, MO.
Warren was born May 24, 1918, in Atchison County, MO, the son of Millard and Dora Poston Grubb.
He attended school through the eighth grade at Eureka School (Chicken Bristle).
On April 25, 1943, he married Pearl Elizabeth Stephenson in Fairfield, IA and to this union four children were born, Russell, Elaine, Diane and Jerry.
Warren took over farming at age 15 following the death of his father in 1933 in Atchison County, MO. In 1952, Warren moved to Scotland County after purchasing a farm seven miles southwest of Memphis, MO.
During the 50’s he worked for the telephone company assisting in the installation of the dial telephone systems.
The farming operation involved row crops, cattle, and several hundred head of hogs, farrow to finish. Warren’s hog operation was the mortgage lifter for the farming operation. In 1981 he received a State Honor; the Missouri Farm Management Recognition presented by Production Credit Assoc. of Eastern MO and University of Missouri Columbia, Extension Division.
Warren stayed actively involved in the day-to-day interests of the farm until his final days. He enjoyed the family gatherings, laughing and joking with all who attended.
He was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a twin sister, two brothers and a brother-in-law.
Warren is survived by his wife, Pearl Grubb of Memphis, MO; and his children, Russell Grubb and his wife, Karen of Twin Falls, ID, Elaine Briggs and her husband, Richard of Memphis, MO, Diane Duley and her husband, Phil of Memphis, MO, and Jerry Grubb and his wife, Lisa of Memphis, MO; 12 grandchildren, Linda Oberholtzer and husband, Marlin of Memphis, MO, Brian Briggs and wife, Melinda of Memphis, MO, Daniel Grubb of West Palm Beach, FL, Sarah Grubb of Memphis, MO, Amy Hunziker and husband, Jaryt of Kahoka, MO, Leslie Duley, Laura Duley, Kaitlin Grubb, Andrew Duley, Bethanie Grubb, Anna Duley and Abbey Duley, all of Memphis, MO; three great-grandchildren, Anna, James and Levi Briggs, all of Memphis, MO; two sisters, Elva G. Hartman of Tarkio, MO, Ruby Farley and husband, Woodrow of Elmo, MO; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family has suggested memorials to the American Heart Association, The Diabetes Association, and the Memphis United Methodist Church new sign fund and can be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 East Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.
Funeral services were held November 3, 2004 at the Memphis United Methodist Church, Memphis, MO with Rev. Terry Lippstreu and Rev. Charles Hammack, officiating. Musicians were organist Joan Hinds and vocalist Terry Lippstreu. Pallbearers were Jaryt Hunziker, Amy Hunziker, Marlin Oberholtzer, Daniel Grubb, Brian Briggs, and Sarah Grubb. Honorary pallbearers were Phil Duley, Rich Briggs, Joe Graham, Philip Gaffney, Doc Wiggins and Alan Gaffney. Interment was in the Memphis Cemetery, Memphis, MO. Arrangements were handled by the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO.
