Karl J. Kraus, 83, of Memphis, MO, died October 26, 2004, at the Scotland County Care Center in Memphis, MO.
He was born May 13, 1921 in Arbela, MO, to Karl Gustave and Mary Elizabeth Essig Kraus.
He was a 1939 graduate of Granger High School, Granger, MO.
He married Claris Hopp on May 22, 1943, in LaPlata, MO, and to this union five children were born.
Karl was engaged in crop farming, dairy farming and raising livestock until retirement in 1994.
He was a 70-year member of the Arbela Methodist Church in Arbela, MO.
He is survived by his wife, Claris; three sons, Darrel L. Kraus and his wife, Kathryn, Harlan K. Kraus and his wife, Connie, and Ronnie G. Kraus, all of Memphis, MO; two daughters, Charlotte Kraus of Milan, IL and Vonda Harvey and her husband, James of Katy, TX; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Richard Kraus of Memphis, MO, and Calvin Kraus of Arbela, MO.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Hubert Kraus; and a sister, Laona Trueblood.
Funeral services were held in the Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO, October 30, 2004, with the Reverend Charles Hammack officiating. Burial followed in the Memphis Cemetery. Casket bearers were Joe Doubet, Roger Lane Riebel, Tommy Riebel, Donnie Harvey, Ronnie Boyer and Danny Garrett. A memorial in the name of Karl J. Kraus is being established. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, MO.
