Ellen Louise Towery, 63, of Queen City, MO, passed away unexpectedly October 15, 2004, at her home.

The daughter of Ted R. and Elma (Roberts) Robinson, she was born July 6, 1941, in Davis County, IA.

On April 6, 1967, at Carthage, IL, she was united in marriage to Harold W. Towery and to this union a daughter, Denise Ann, was born.

Surviving are the daughter, Denise Taylor and husband, Jeff of Council Bluffs, IA; one grandson, Austin Wayne Taylor of Council Bluffs, IA; one sister, Eulene Norton and husband, Don of Baring, MO; one brother, Robert Robinson and wife, Maxine of Gillette, WY; two step-children, Rene and Wane, several nieces and nephews; and a wonderful group of friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ellen grew up on a farm near Brock, MO; she attended the Brock grade school and the Memphis High School graduating with the Class of 1959. Immediately after graduation she went to work for North Western Bell (now Qwest) in Fort Madison, IA. She retired in 1993 after working 33 years and eight months. She then moved to Queen City, where she worked for American Home Care for seven and one-half years until her health failed.

She was a member of the Queen City Christian Church and the Telephone Pioneers of America. Her greatest love was her family, her grandson, reading and her pets.

The body was cremated and memorial services were held October 18, 2004 in the Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor George Bradburn officiating. Music was provided by Georgia Ann Robinson singing accompanied by Gwen Laudwig, organist. A tape was also played. Interment will be at a later date in the family plot in the Brock Cemetery north of Memphis, MO. Honorary pallbearers were Randy Norton, David Lee Robinson, Danny Norton, Jeff Robinson, Robert McBee, Randall Ayer and H. David Robinson. It was Ellens request that those who wish to express their sympathy in the form of a contribution may do so to the grandson, Austin Taylors Education Fund. Contributions may be left at or mailed to the Dooley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 155, Queen City, MO 63561.
