D.J. Tague, 74, of Gorin, passed away at her home on Monday, October 4, 2004.
She was born the daughter of Elvin ďBuckĒ and Jean (Phelps) Stiff on June 3, 1930, at Iowa City, IA. D.J. graduated from Tipton (IA) High School. She received her Bachelors of Science degree in English from Northeast Missouri State University and her teaching degree from Northern Iowa University.
D.J. married Don D. ďBuckĒ Tague on October 26, 1952, in Rochester, Iowa. He survives.
She taught high school English at Wyaconda, Luray, and Granger.
D.J. was very active in the Gorin United Methodist Church, serving as a lay minister and volunteering her time reading the Bible to residents at the Scotland County Care Center. She loved the Hymn Sings and often led them.
She was also a member of the Scotland County Genealogical Society and volunteered at the Scotland County Library in the genealogy department.
D.J. enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends, especially Crazy 8ís. In fact, she had just taught her youngest grandchildren how to play the game.
She loved letter writing and card giving. Many family and friends received her correspondence, and in times of illness they received more than one.
She deeply missed her sister Carol, who recently passed away. Carol and D.J. shared the same birthday, seven years apart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister; and her stepfather, Harold Pace, Sr.
She is survived by her husband, Don, of the home; children: Sandra C. Kalman and her husband Les of Edinburg, TX; Jane S. Klopfer and husband Dan of Urbandale, IA; Mona E. Beckley and husband David of Memphis; David N. Tague and wife Melissa of Columbia, MO, and Paul J. Tague and wife Diane of Gorin, MO; step-brothers: Harold, Jr. and Barb Pace, of Muscatine, Iowa, David and Valerie Pace of Rochester, MN, and Harlen Pace of Chicago, IL; brothers-in-law, Richard A. Anderson of Tipton, IA, Weldon and Mona Tague of Gorin, and Bruce and Vera Tague of Wyaconda; sisters-in-law, Grace Brown of Memphis, Vera and Robert Crandal of Wayland, Ruth and Leroy VanSickle of Hurdland, Alice and Harry Snyder of Rocheport, MO; grandchildren: Vincent Kalman of Edinburg, TX, Michelle Krall and husband Jeremy of Chatham, IL, Matthew Klopfer and wife Keeley of Dallas, TX, Marla Klopfer of Urbandale, IA, Jennifer and Valerie Crawford and Mikayla and Mikenzie Beckley of Memphis, Eric Jones and wife Heather of Memphis, and Cyrus and Alden Tague of Columbia; step-grandchildren, Curt and Cheryl Beckley of Clarence, MO; great-grandchild, Austin Jones of Memphis; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held October 7, 2004 at the Gorin United Methodist Church with pastors Larry and Ilene Howell officiating. Janene McNamar, Teresa Sears, and Mark Masden provided the music. Her grandchildren served as pallbearers.
