EVA LOUISE MALLETT

Eva Louise Mallett, 88, of DeSoto, MO, formerly of Memphis, MO, died September 29, 2004, at Hillcrest Care Center in DeSoto, MO.
Eva was born in rural Scotland County, MO, on March 17, 1916, to Wallace Overfield and Ethel Lee Reid Overfield.
She was educated in the Scotland County Schools.
She was united in marriage in Memphis, MO, on December 24, 1935, to Tull Mallett, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Grant and Wallace Overfield, Jr. and her sisters, Ilene McDaniel and Maxine Creek.
She is survived by two children, Norma Jean Bell (Richard) of DeSoto, MO and Jerry O. Mallett (Lois) of Keokuk, IA; eight grandchildren, Tracy Cloke (Len) of Burlington, IA, Margi Warner (Randy) of Lizton, IN, Crystal Adams (Kenny), Paula Blaise (Darin), Melissa Eckland (Ty), all of Keokuk, IA, Eric Mallett (Laura) of Bloomington, IL, Shawn Bell (Donna) of Odessa, TX, Rachel Mallett and fiancé, Brent Kirchner of Iowa City, IA; 12 great-grandchildren are Hilary Cloke, Caleb and Hunter Warner, Cami and Kaylee Adams, Trent Lovel, Ethan and Tallon Blaise, MaKenah and Kerrigan Eckland and Landon and Ashlyn Bell.
Eva was a farmer’s wife and also worked at several businesses in Memphis. She is best remembered from the Memphis Library and her work with genealogy including writing family histories for many people out of state. She was a member of the Scotland County Genealogical Society in Memphis. Eva was also a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother who always sacrificed for her children. She was a talented writer and loved sewing, reading and cooking.
Eva attended Brock Church as a child and later attended First Christian Church in Memphis and Grace Presbyterian Church in Crystal City.
Funeral services were held October 2, 2004, at the Memphis Funeral Home in Memphis, MO with the Reverend Terry Lovell and Reverend Jim Brown officiating. Music was provided by Shawn Bell and Jim and LaMayra Brown with Connie Courtney at the organ. Burial was in the Lawn Ridge Cemetery in Scotland County, MO. Casket bearers were Kenny Adams, J. Shawn Bell, Darin Blaise, Len Cloke, Ty Eckland, Brent Kirchner, Trent Lovell, Eric Mallett and Randy Warner. Memorials may be made to the Lawn Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Memphis Funeral Home, Memphis, MO.
