Mikel Olen Tague, 89, of Memphis, MO, died April 23, 2004, at the Van Buren County Hospital, Keosauqua, IA.

He was born January 2, 1915, near Gorin, MO, to Henry and Ethel Smith Tague.

He married Lucille Hotchkiss, February 12, 1937, at Memphis, MO.

He farmed, worked on the Santa Fe Railroad and hi-line construction until his retirement. He was a member of the Memphis United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille of Memphis, MO; two daughters, Charlotte Payne of Mt. Sterling, IA, and Shirley Swafford and her husband, Bary of Burlington, IA; three grandchildren, Karen Stafford and her husband, Adam of Fairfield, IA, Kevin Payne and his wife, Malynda of Bloomfield, IA, and Kimberly Banks and her husband, Charles of Keosauqua, IA; five great-grandchildren, Kyle and Mikel Payne, Spencer Peterman, Kortney and Kamryn Banks; a brother, Floyd Tague and his wife, Gladys of Memphis, MO; two sisters, Callie Strandberg of Liberal, KS and Dorothy Seguin of Lindstrom, MN; an aunt and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his father and mother, and a brother, Earl Tague; and son-in-law, Jerry Payne.

The family has suggested memorials to Gorin Cemetery, and they may be left at or mailed to the Payne Funeral Chapel, 202 E. Madison, Memphis, MO 63555.

Funeral services were held April 26, 2004, at the Payne Funeral Chapel, Memphis, MO with Rev. Charles Hammack officiating. Music was by Faye Humphrey, organist, and D.J. Tague, vocalist. Pallbearers were Paul Slater, Bary Swafford, Charles Banks, Bill Atwater, Adam Stafford and Kevin Payne. Interment was in the Gorin Cemetery, Gorin, MO.
