Richard D. ďDickĒ Early, 59, of Bloomfield, IA, died March 20, 2004, at Sandy, UT.

He was born April 10, 1944 at Baring, MO, to Donald and Mary (Delaney) Early.

He married Sheila Beckett, July 4, 1964, at Baring, MO.

He graduated from St. Margaret Hospital School of Nursing, Kansas City, KS in 1965. He enlisted in the U.S. Army Nurse Corp and was a 1st Lt. during the Vietnam War. He was a 1969 graduate of the Mayo Clinic School of Anesthesia for Nurses. He was a member of the Bloomfield Anesthetist Group administering anesthesia in hospitals in Albia, Bloomfield, Centerville, Corydon, Keosauqua and Ottumwa, IA and Memphis, MO. He was a member of the St. Mary Magdalene Church in Bloomfield, IA, Franklin Lodge 14 AF & AM of Masons, El Kadir Shrine Club of Kirksville, MO, Iowa Cattlemanís Association, Iowa Association of Nurse Anesthetists and National Association of Nurse Anesthetists. He was a member of the Bloomfield Country Club and a former member of the Bloomfield Lions Club and the VFW. He was a retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserves. Dick loved life and had a passion for his family and his farm.

He is survived by his wife of Bloomfield, IA; one son, Kevin Early and wife, Audra of Seneca, SC, two daughters, Megan Reno and husband, Gary of Geneva, IL and Joan Strauss and husband, Noel of Little Rock, AR; eight grandchildren, Sarah and Jessica Early, Kyle Wilkinson, Conor and Drennan Westrate, Ashlyn Reno and Ethan and Alexa Strauss; brothers and sisters, Mike Early of Colorado Springs, CO, Susie Cahalan of Edina, MO, Bill Early of Edina, MO, Kay Montague of St. Charles, IL, B.J. Early-Griffith of Webster Grove, MO.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Patrick Early and infant sister.

Memorial funeral services were held March 25, 2004 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Edina, MO with Father William Peckman officiating. Vocalists were Kyle and Jim Clark. Visitation music was by Dick Beckett. Honorary bearers were Bill Early, Mike Early, Dick Beckett, Conor Westrate, Marty Owen, Allen Beckett and Ron Henkenius. As an expression of sympathy memorials may be given to the Davis County Hospital or the Shrinerís Childrenís Hospitals. Henkenius-Priester Funeral Home, Bloomfield, IA, was in charge of arrangements.
