Funeral services for Elmer Ray Johnson, 66, Pryor, OK, were held March 4, 2004, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Pryor, OK. The Rev. Jerold Pilant officiated with burial following in Graham Memorial Cemetery in Pryor, OK. Services were under the direction of Key Funeral Home of Pryor, OK.

Elmer was born in Stillwell, OK, on May 29, 1937 to J. C. and Iona (Walker) Johnson.

He spent the first five years of his life in Stillwell, OK and then at age six his family moved to Pryor, OK. He attended school in Pryor until joining the Navy in 1954. He served in the Navy until 1958.

He and Betty Brewster were married November 15, 1958, at the Assembly of God Church in Pryor.

Elmer moved his family to California in 1963. It is while living there that he learned his cement trade. He worked there for seven years before moving his family back to Pryor in 1970. He started his own business as a concrete contractor in Pryor. He was self-employed for 17 years. He went to work for Bechtal Corp. in 1987 and retired from there in 1999 as a Civil Superintendent.

Although Elmer attended several area churches he was a member of Godís Church. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion and The Elkís Lodge in Pryor, OK. His largest accomplishment in life was his family. He loved them dearly and they will miss him greatly.

Survivors include his wife, Betty of the home; one daughter, Twila Hogarth and husband, Ed of Memphis, MO; one son, Curtis Johnson and wife, Leigh of Pryor; OK; four grandchildren, Amanda Snyder and husband, Jason, Reece Hogarth, Seth Johnson and Ashtin Johnson; one great-granddaughter, Arysta Snyder; two sisters, Marie Whitby and husband, Bob of Coweta, OK, Betty Jean Arnold of Pryor, OK; one brother, Jack Johnson and wife, Jean, Florida; nine nephews; 10 nieces; eight great-nephews; 12 great-nieces; adopted family members, Ken and Sherri Cobb, Red and Janice Seals.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, O Jay Johnson, Lee Johnson, Lawrence Johnson and Donald Eugene Johnson; three sisters, Josephine Johnson, ďVirgieĒ Virginia Henderson and Ellis Dean Sullivan; one nephew, Elmer James Beck; and one great-nephew, Josh Tollette.

Pallbearers included Reece Hogarth, Seth Johnson, Curtiss Beck, Michael Beck, Ken Cobb, Robert Melugin, Bruce Sheats, and Tommy OíConnor.
