Eston Moncrief, 92, of Wyaconda died February 27, 2004, at the Clark County Nursing Home in Kahoka.
He was born the son of Elmer B. and Floda (Dorsey) Moncrief on January 12, 1912 on the family farm southeast of Wyaconda. He lived and worked on that farm his entire life. He resided in the same home since he was five years old.
Eston was very active in the New Woodville Baptist Church. He served as the Sunday school superintendent, a Sunday school teacher, deacon, and as the treasurer of the New Woodville Baptist Church Cemetery Association.
He served as secretary of the Wyaconda M.F.A.
Eston was a gentle man of few words, but was always willing to do the job that needed to be done, and it was always done right. He was a devoted son, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed.
His brother, Aubrey Moncrief, and sister, Zula Currier, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sister Zuma Moncrief of Wyaconda; a sister-in-law, Nadine Singer of Canton, MO; a niece, Sharon and her husband Harry Slovinski of LaGrange, MO; nephews Aubrey and his wife Jan Moncrief of Osage Beach, MO, and Gregory Moncrief of Independence, MO; great-nephews Ian Moncrief of Hazelwood, MO, Drew Moncrief of Springfield, MO, and Christopher Moncrief of Lee’s Summit, MO; and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 1, 2004, at the New Woodville Baptist Church near Wyaconda, with Ralph St. Clair officiating. Sharon Slovinski provided musical accompaniment. Serving as pallbearers were Harry Slovinski, Edward Anderson, Mark St. Clair, Lynn St. Clair, Gregory Moncrief, and Aubrey Moncrief. Interment was in the New Woodville Cemetery
