Dorothy L. Lewis passed away in Centennial, CO, February 19, 2004.

Dot was born on New Year’s Day in 1924 in Downing, MO. She was the third child of Fred F. and Verna Mae (Coger) White.

She graduated from Downing High School in 1941.

In 1942, Dot married Robert W. Lewis also of Downing, MO.

During the war, Dot lived in Salinas, CA and Kansas City, MO. Following Bob’s return from the service they settled in Burlington, IA, where Bob worked in the Composing Room of the Burlington Hawk-Eye for over 30 years. Dot worked for several years at Sylvania Electric and retired from Burlington Basket Company in 1986. She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Burlington, IA and the King’s Daughters.

Upon her retirement, she followed her grandchildren to Omaha, NE and later to the Denver, CO area.

Her parents; her brother, Rolla; her husband, Bob and her son, Gary preceded her in death.

Dorothy’s sister, Faye Watkins of Lancaster, MO; her son, Don; and grandchildren, Logan and Danielle Lewis of Centennial, CO, survive her.

Memorial services were held at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, MO, February 22, 2004, with Rob Green, pastor of the Lancaster Christian Church officiating. Jane Watkins provided the music. Memorials have been established for the Colorado Alzheimer’s Association. Interment of the cremains will be in the Downing City Cemetery, Downing, MO, at a later date. Final arrangements are entrusted to the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster and Downing, MO.
